Inspiral work with and represent the international trance and transfiguration medium Jay Love, and as part of our busy schedule were holding a workshop and demonstration on Saturday the 5th May in Grays.

When we arrived in the hall, we realised that it was going to be impossible to create the darkness usually required in order for Jay to carry out his transfiguration work.

Transfiguration, for the uninitiated, is a form of mediumship where the medium is able to show the features of those in Spirit on their own faces using a thin veil of ectoplasm.

Traditionally, this work has been undertaken in the dark, using just red light to dimly illuminate the proceedings. As a result, many mediums have been denounced as frauds, and it doesnt take much research on the internet to produce well documented evidence from credible sources of previously respected mediums taking advantage of this and being "caught out" with glow sticks or assisting trumpets in their levitation.

These mediums claim that to work in the light will cause the ectoplasm to burn their skin, and until Saturday, we had always thought the same.

Therefore we were debating whether or not to call of the demonstration part of the day, and to extend the teaching aspect, when Jay's guide suggested he give a mini reading in the daylight.

Not only was the reading impactive and accurate, but the sitters father appeared on Jay's face IN DAYLIGHT.

This was witnessed by several people in the room, and proved without doubt that it is not necessary to dim the lights for physical mediumship.

Jay asked his guide afterwards why they hadnt been able to do this before, and was told "You have always been able to do it - you just didnt ask us to".

We feel that this is a real step forward in the development of physical mediumship, and will enable us to develop and move forward even further in proving there is no death. Other mediums will in time have to step up to the plate, and it will reduce the claims of fraud levelled against physical mediums.

We would be really interested to hear from other physical and transfiguration mediums who manage to work successfully in daylight, as we believe this is a real turning point.
