I am told that we only meet our animal symbol once. I say symbol because I don't know what the official termination is. If anyone out there can enlighten me I would be glad to hear from you.
My first ever spirit experience that I can remember, was when as a small child I was laying in my bed and I watched 2 what I thought then were foxes, come into my room through the outside door. I must explain that the room many years before was a shop, so had a door in the outside wall as well as an inner door. These foxes just seemed to come through the door as if it wasn't there. As I child I felt no fear, I had been taught never to interfere with wild life, not because I would get harmed but because I would frighten creatures away and they wouldn't come back. So I sat up in my bed and just watched. The foxes played and tumbled around the room and then came and sat side by side with their noses on my bed. I put aside what I had been taught and patted the bed like you would to a pet to invite it up. They didn't need asking twice, they jumped up and were all over me in their eagerness to get me to play with them. After a while they jumped down and jumped up onto the window sill, plainly even to my childs mind, asking to be let out. It never occured to me that they had walked through a door with no problem, so why would they need to be let out now! I opened the window and they jumped down and ran off over the front garden and disapeared. I told my dad and brother about it in the morning, but they didn't believe me said I must have had a bad dream. This was confirmed to them when I started to cry, because I hadn't been believed. Adults can be so ignorant!!
When I was a bit older, I saw a picture of wolf cubs and realised that what I had seen had indeed been wolf cubs not foxes, but I was so young at the time that I'd never come across wolves.
One day about 3 years ago, I was meditating and before I knew it I found myself in a lovely garden. I have often wondered about the wolf cubs and as I sat on a log my thoughts turned to them, wondering if in this place of enchantment I would come across them again as I contemplated this and other things I began to feel that I was being watched. I scanned the land around me and spotted 2 forms in the grass some distance away but moving towards me. As they got closer my heart jumped for joy and also in recognition, because although they were now adult, I saw before me my 2 wolf cubs. They were silver grey with yelow eyes, magnificent adults who in their maturity seemed ageless. This time I had no reservations about touching them but would they allow me to fondle them? I put out my hands for them to approach, they came forward and accepted my caresses and quiet words I spoke to them, with dignity. Gone were the playful cubs that romped and gamboled over me when I was a child, in their place were a sedate dog and bitch of undefined age in all thier beauty and gracefullness. After a while the bitch gave a low call and a few growly yips. I thought it was a signal to me that enough was enough of this humans interaction, but no she wagged her tail and looked away from me and as I followed her gaze to my amazement I saw 2 cubs running and tumbling their way towards us. They fetched up in a squirming heap between the sires front legs. He stepped away from them and nudged them towards me. I pointed first at the cubs and then to myself and he lowered his head. that was enough for me! I picked up and fussed each cub in turn, then I got down off of the log and sat on the grass with them. I was transported back in time as 2 wolf cubs ran and jumped all over and around me, only this time I was playing with them too! then it was time for us to part. The male called the cubs back and then he and the bitch came and let me stroke them for a last time. I picked the cubs up one at a time and kissed them goodbye, then let them go. I watched them all disapear into the distance, with a feeling of elation and peace.
